Learn HTML and CSS with these Free Resources

What is HTML and Why Learn it?

But you may ask, what is HTML?  HTML is an acronym for HyperText Markup Language and is used to create web content.  HTML is often coupled with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for responsive and visual web design.  Wikipedia defines CSS as “a style sheet language used for specifying the presentation and styling of a document written in a markup language such as HTML or XML.”

But HTML and CSS aren’t just tools for front-end developers.  Learning HTML and CSS is a great way to learn some principles of coding and more about web development and design.  Even if you are not embarking on new career in web development, after learning HTML and CSS, you can:

  • Create and customize web content for personal and business projects,

  • Enhance general career opportunities in web-development adjacent fields, and

  • Collaborate effectively with developers, designers, and content creators.
